Official Announcement

Press Release

13 November 2007

Bob Hering for U.S. Congress

Orange County, Florida businessman, Iraq War veteran and retired Marine Corps colonel Bob Hering announced his candidacy for Florida's 8th Congressional District on 13 November 2007. The announcement rally was held at Lake Eola with fifty (50) friends and campaign supporters in attendance.

Hering had run for Congress in the 8th District in 2000. In that election he received 26% of the primary vote.

The announcement venue was held next to the World War II Battle of the Bulge memorial and directly across the street from Congressman Keller's office. Hering said the location for the event was intentionally chosen and symbolic as it allowed for a contrast in leadership and sacrifice between the veterans of the war and Keller. Hering said Keller's office is a symbol, as well, but one of self-interest over sacrifice, and power and privilege over principals.

Hering added, "We are in the middle. ...in something of a political Purgatory. We are hungry for leadership; we are looking for a statesman. I am that leader".
